Experience
I'm working toward my B.S. in Mathematics and Biochemistry at Duquesne University, where I am presently minoring in Math and conducting research in a biochemistry laboratory. I have three years of experience as a peer tutor in a large range of math-and-science-related areas. I've tutored fellow undergraduates in physics, organic and general chemistry, differential equations, calculus, and other math subjects. I've come to understand that in order for people to learn, they need to be engaged in active conversation. Study is as much an active, communal process as it is an individual one. Especially in the case of mathematics and the sciences, it's important for students to analyze and discuss in order to come to solutions and clarity. As an educator, I value the importance of openness, thoughtful expression, challenging, and honoring many outlooks. The best way to arrive at deep levels of clarity and comprehension in life or in academics is to be open and aware of many different perspectives and lines of thought. I love to converse with others about TV and music. One of my favorite genres of music is indie, and I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also like playing guitar, skiing, going to restaurants, and spending time with pals.
