Experience

I have experience teaching and tutoring at both the high school and college level. At Oberlin College I was trained to be a Writing Associate, and worked in the college’s Writing Center as well as with individual classes. I also co-coordinated and tutored for Languages of Oberlin College and Oberlin High School, a program that paired college students with tutees in the local high school. At Carnegie Mellon University, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a freshman writing course for ESL students. I chose to attend Carnegie Mellon for Rhetoric because I am interested in how people write. Rhetoric is the study writing and persuasion. In this program I learnt how to tailor my writing to particular audiences and situations. This program has given me the technical vocabulary and theoretical understanding of effective and persuasive communication.

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am originally from Philadelphia, PA. I moved out to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University. I will be receiving my Masters in Rhetoric from CMU this May. Outside of academics, I like to read, write, and watch movies. Llamas are my favorite animal, a fact I discovered after a trip to Peru when I was in high school. I also studied abroad in Spain, where I got the chance to travel around the country and Europe. I hope that I get the chance to go back some day soon. I love to help people with their writing.
