I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from Wesleyan University. After graduating, I spent a year volunteering at a non-profit organization in Pittsburgh, PA. As a student who went to a liberal arts college, I have knowledge and experience in a wide range of subjects. As such, I am comfortable tutoring students in Spanish, business, social studies, English, math, and comparative literature. I am also available to tutor students in Advanced Placement courses, such as European history, macroeconomics, and Spanish literature and culture. Throughout my time as a student, I was involved with tutoring in several capacities. I worked as a writing tutor at the college level, I volunteered as a middle school tutor, and I worked as a teaching intern for a history and philosophy course. My philosophy as a tutor emphasizes really getting to know my students. This allows me to get a clear understanding of what my students are interested in, which also enables me to design a lesson plan that I know will be the most effective for each particular student. My favorite part of being a tutor is when my students finally understand a topic that they've been struggling with. My hobbies include playing the flute and rowing.
