Experience
I am originally from Hong Kong and a native speaker of Cantonese. I love to share my native language and culture with others, which is why Cantonese is one of the subjects that I tutor. I believe that when it comes to learning another language that practice makes perfect. I also feel that to be successful in Cantonese, a student needs to listen and watch because there are many complexities to the language, such as tones, sounds, and phrases. These things can only be picked up by students through a careful ear and close observation. I earned my bachelor of arts in rhetorical communication at the University of Pittsburgh and enjoy tutoring in English, writing, public speaking, and theatre. I plan to continue my education with a master's degree in health administration. I currently work in the health industry as a patient advocate at a children's hospital. I am also willing to provide advice and my personal insight to working in the health industry. When I am not working or teaching, I find great enjoyment in volunteering. I volunteer as a disaster service volunteer with the Red Cross and I am a youth ministries leader with my church. I also enjoy reading superhero comics and playing the piano.
