Experience
I have three years of experience tutoring high school students in math and writing through the high school that I attended. During my time studying at Pitt, I also tutored other college students in writing persuasive essays for various courses for two semesters. I believe that tutoring is a great way for students to get the one-on-one academic support that they need to succeed in school. I'm currently preparing for a career in education, and I think that tutoring is a great way for me to help the community and fine-tune my teaching skills. Though I haven't tutored consistently for about two years, I work in educational psychology research, and interact with students grades 5-12 in school settings. I feel confident that I can help your child improve academically. I am most interested and would probably be most effective in tutoring Writing, Elementary or Intermediate French. I can also help with test-prep and study-skills for elementary-middle school, or high school/college social sciences. I've taken 9 college writing courses while completing my Nonfiction Writing Major, and 6 French courses in addition to studying abroad for 5 months in France while completing a French minor. I have great experience in teaching computer skills (especially using Macs) due to my previous employment at an Apple Retail store.
