Experience
I tutored as an undergrad and worked in the chemistry instructional laboratories. When I went to grad school, I worked teaching Freshman General Chemistry Laboratory and Sophomore Organic Chemistry Laboratory. At YSU, the graduate students that worked teaching the lab classes had office hours in a common tutoring room where we tutored students from all undergraduate classes. This is where I gained experience tutoring all levels of college chemistry from freshman to senor. I have done private tutoring part time ever since. My teaching/tutoring philosophy is to actively engage the pupil on many levels. The typical strategy that used in classrooms is a bottom up method. Starting with facts and basic definitions and building up from there. I like to take a bit of time and cover what is to come in future lectures and how it all fits into the 'big picture'. I find that being able to anticipate what is to come aids in organizing and thereby retaining incoming information in upcoming lectures.

Hobbies
I am a big fan of the maker movement. I have a small metal and wood working shop in my basement where I can make and/or repair just about anything. I also like cooking as it is a natural extension of both chemistry and making things. On a separate note, I also enjoy outdoor activities such as biking and gardening.
