I'm a recently graduated tutor based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and consider myself to be a passionate mathematician. Outside of the classroom I enjoy winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. In fact, I've spent seven years instructing children and adolescents ranging from ages four to sixteen. This extensive background working with young people has allowed me to refine my teaching techniques through the hundreds of lessons I've taught on the slopes. As an instructor, I always felt best when I saw my students finally overcome a problem area that they had been struggling with. In the classroom I've worked with elementary school-aged children as well as early college students. I use the same teaching methods I refined on the slopes to achieve great results in the classroom. I like to add fun to subjects that students may not be interested in. I think that students are more likely to succeed if they enjoy a subject, and so as a tutor it's important for me to try and instill that interest in my students. I hope that I can use the skills that I've developed throughout my life to enrich your classroom experience.
