Experience
SAT Scores: 650 English 710 Math IQ about 120 - superior category I would like to be a tutor because I really like to teach, and I believe a student can learn more quickly and thoroughly by working one on one with a tutor instead of sitting in a classroom with 30 other students. Perhaps your child is struggling with a subject and cannot get enough attention from the teacher for help. Maybe they want to learn a subject that is not offered in their school. Maybe they want to learn more about a subject special to them that would be impossible in a school. I can help. My style of teaching is not only to educate a student but also to teach them to think by asking them a lot of questions. I thought painting for four years at Northern Virginia community college with zero art training in my academic background. I taught about a dozen classes about gardening in New England through a learning catalog. I have also lectured a few times about ecology. I recently published seven ebooks on Amazon Kindle about how to save money. Now I am working on writing dozens of cookbooks, so I have good culinary knowledge and skills. I could teach your child how to cook - was thinking of writing a cookbook for kids. Every child should learn how to cook because they will be doing it their entire life so they might as well start early. I have written many published magazine articles and won state and national writing awards in the past. I have spent most of my career working in the arts. I am a fine artist, illustrator, graphic designer, photographer, writer, and publisher. I have produced over 15 of my own websites on topics ranging from real estate to ecotourism. I have fun creating websites, while the technical side can be challenging. I have been using computers for 20 years so I consider myself quite computer literate, although I hear that kids are really good at computers even at a fairly early age. When I was a kid the calculator had not yet been invented, and when they came out, they were $100 apiece! My commercial clients have included prestigious organizations like the National Geographic Society, The World Bank, the United Nations, the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, TimeLife Books, Discovery, Smithsonian Institution, the Bronx Zoo, CocaCola, ABC News, NBC Advertising, and many more. I have lived a very "green" lifestyle for decades and consider myself an expert on the subject. I renovated an entire house ecologically and have two websites about my ecological architectural and interior design. I study the subjects constantly. Part of my career included being Vice President of a resort near Pittsburgh that my family owned for twenty years. I had a variety of tasks there, including planting perennial gardens around their wedding gazebos, building their website from scratch, creating posters for the resort, creating an ecotourism advertising campaign for the resort, and helping to operate and manage our nine restaurants. Having worked at the resort and having run my own business for almost 40 years, I have a strong background in business, marketing, and advertising.
