Experience
As a tutor, I work with my students not only to learn the details of a subject and how it works, but also why they should learn the subject. This is important in the long run, because when a student understands the purpose of the subject, they can use that appreciation as a base to build new knowledge. This is true for any subject, from English to college test preparation. My favorite subjects are history, public speaking, theater, and English, so I love to work with students who need to prepare a speech for class. However, I am also skilled at tutoring students in reading comprehension, writing and editing skills, literature analysis, basic grammar and mechanics, social studies, American history, and standardized test preparation, especially for Advanced Placement courses. I can work with students to prepare their college applications as well, from entrance essays to the reading and writing sections of the SAT and ACT. If students struggle with homework, I am glad to help with that as well. I earned my bachelor's degree at Elon University, and my master's degree at West Virginia University, so I am very familiar with the ways a lifetime of education can benefit everyone. In my spare time, I love to travel, play games, and of course, read books!
