I taught at Huntington Learning Center for three years, where I was certified in tutoring for SAT, ACT, GED, English and Writing. I was the senior writing instructor at my center, in charge of grading student writing assignments and working with each student to improve his or her written communication skills, whether writing an essay for the SAT or a term paper for history class . While at Huntington, I became one of the most requested tutors at our center, as a result of my reputation for building strong relationships and achieving significant measurable results with my students. I also received my center's "Teacher of the Month" award twice within a 9-month period. Most students appreciate the creativity and sense of humor that I bring to the material they are learning, whether it's a new and inventive way of looking at a tough math problem, or some clever wordplay to help build vocabulary. I believe that learning should be fun, and that students should not feel like they're in "just another class" during a tutoring session, especially after they've been sitting in school all day. The one-on-one nature of tutoring allows me to get to know each of my students personally: their ambitions, their anxieties, their strengths and their weaknesses. Likewise, they get to know me, becoming more comfortable and forthcoming as our sessions progress. This is what leads to real breakthroughs and development. By treating each one of my students as an individual - with a unique personality, temperament, home environment, and education background - I can be a most effective teacher, motivator, and mentor for each young man or woman with whom I have the pleasure of working.

Hobbies
When I'm not tutoring, I'm usually writing. I am currently at work on screenplays, stage plays, a children's book, and a board game. When I was in school, I was active in the drama club, marching band, ski club, and school newspaper. Today most of the skills honed through those activities - storytelling, music, leadership, stamina, endurance, accuracy and truth - still play large roles in my life, both personally and professionally.
