I am a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a bachelor's degree in K-6 interdisciplinary studies, which I earned at Western Governors University. I have two years of teaching experience in pre-kindergarten, where I helped students get ready for kindergarten. For nearly 5 years, I have been an after-school tutor. I myself have two terrific sons, so I have experience with children not only as a teacher, but also as a parent.I firmly believe that the additional perspective gained as a teacher and as a parent makes me a better tutor. I believe that all students have individual learning styles. I try to discover what each student's particular learning style is and customize my approach accordingly. Although I am available to tutor any elementary-level subject, my favorites are reading and math. I can help with elementary and middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, reading, writing, and phonics. I can also help with study skills and organization, homework support, and preparation for standardized exams such as the SSAT.When I have time, I like to read, exercise, run, garden, and play tennis. In addition, I love spending time with my children, either playing outside or taking them to the zoo, science center, aviary, or museum.
