Experience
I believe that tutoring is a chance for student to improve their education in an environment that provides individual assistance that can help remediate and increase knowledge. As a current student and a former teacher I know that everyone has their own individual approach to learning, and so I do my best to mold my instruction to each student's specific approach. Also, I believe in encouraging problem solving and critical thinking over rote and recitation. In the last three years I have taught middle school science and math, coincidentally my favorites to teach. I like using mathematics in the context of science and business, and I think math is understood best when presented with relatable examples. I am studying for my master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh, and I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master's degree in Secondary Education. Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. When I'm not teaching or studying I like to play the guitar, ride my bike, and go camping and hiking. I am also interested in research related to data mining and machine learning to improve healthcare diagnostics.
