Experience

I'm an experienced educator with previous teaching ranging from middle school and high school to upper-level university seminars in poetry and fiction writing. I have extensive training in literature, analysis, and writing; additionally, I've worked as a copyeditor and journalist at The Austin Chronicle and published short stories and poems in nationally distributed magazines. I know writing can be a scary thing for students, especially those who feel somewhat alienated and disenfranchised by the ways we're taught to make meaning of the world. I think it's enormously beneficial to find a home in words, whether this means studying creative writing or simply being adept at written correspondence.
