I want to be a tutor because I've been a student myself, and I remember how stressful that experience can be! There's a lot of pressure on students to work hard, get not just good but great grades, and score well on college entrance tests. At the same time, acceptance rates to universities are going down every year, so there's more and more competition to get into a good college in order to get a good job. I focus on standardized and college test preparation as a tutor, and I can also help tutoring students with academic subjects. I majored in mathematics, minoring in computer science at UPenn, so I focus particularly on math classes ranging from calculus to complex analysis. I currently work as a web developer, so I have experience writing computer programs for websites. I can also tutor students in this area. My philosophy as a tutor centers around creating a relaxed atmosphere for students, to help take some of the pressure off learning, especially when the subject is tough for them. It is important to learn as much as possible and get into a good college, and I want to make sure my students feel comfortable taking those steps with me.
