ExperienceI graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with my master's degree in viola performance, having earned my bachelor's from Western Michigan University. I believe in the philosophy of lifelong learning, and I identify with this life style myself. I have 10 years of experience tutoring students utilizing my strengths while integrating my life philosophies. I enjoy supporting others in realizing themselves to be lifelong learners. By training, I am a musician, and I enjoy the scholarly pursuit of all subjects. I share my ideas with all who will listen. I love tutoring the art of writing because it involves the strict rules of grammar and the more open guidelines for content organization. True synergy can develop between student and teacher through learning to express ideas during the writing process. That takes authentic engagement from both the student and the teacher. Learning must be enjoyable for it to be effective. The teacher must approach the lesson with effective method and the flexibility to break the teaching mold occasionally. The student must approach the session with an open mind, some patience, and genuine interest in something (it's okay if this is not directly about the material). Light conversation often opens the door to successful lessons!
