Experience
I earned my B.A. in Rhetoric at the University of Illinois. I continued my education at the University of North Carolina, where I received a Creative Writing M.F.A. With 8 years teaching experience, I have a wealth of experience working with a broad range of writing styles and formats. As an educator, I take pride in helping students to fully comprehend the material they are using for their writing. One of my greatest strengths is in working with research papers and argumentative writing. I am capable of assisting students through every stage of the writing process and giving suggestions to improve their overall writing. I take a personal interest in my students by recognizing their interests and strengths in order to build appropriate lesson plans. I think that a personal connection to assignments helps to create an engaging learning environment. I have experience working with students of all ages to improve their communication in both their writing and public speaking. While I love reading, I also enjoy writing for myself. I mostly write personal narrative essays and fiction. In addition, I enjoy movies, visiting new places, and photography. I will often photograph local places as a way to get to know my neighborhood, and so that I may share my memories later.
