Experience
From 2009 to 2011, I worked as a peer writing tutor in my undergraduate college writing center. I also served as a T.A. for a college writing course, and also tutored writing and critical reading in an intensive summer program. From 2011 to 2013, I worked as a tutor and teacher for a standardized test preparation company in the Philadelphia area. I worked one-on-one with students to prepare for and improve their scores on the SAT and ACT. I regularly helped students achieve increases in the 200-300 point range on the SAT. I tutored all areas of the test, and also helped students with college admissions essays. Now I am a graduate student in the English department at the University of Pittsburgh. (I scored a perfect verbal and writing score on the GRE, so am also available to help with that test.) I teach one of the standard required writing courses, to mostly college freshmen. I have also taught creative writing in after school programs, and am generally available for help with any kind of writing, whether academic/analytical or technical or creative. I love working one-on-one with students to help them achieve their goals, whether those goals be to score higher on the SAT or to better understand Walt Whitman. I'm patient, and a good listener.
