Experience
I received a bachelor's degree in Italian Literature and Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh. I continued with my education at Carnegie Mellon University and received a master's degree in Computation and Logic. I taught all levels of philosophy at these two universities as an assistant teacher. Most of my teaching during this time was focused on helping individuals gain confidence in their academic writing. I found that there were common issues and challenges the individuals had in their writing. These included the most common grammar and spelling errors-- redundancy, lack of clarity, and the inability to structure an argument. I spent a large amount of time with the individuals one on one, assisting them with the process of revision. I also helped them to understand that it's important to know that writing is a process. I believe it is crucial to have ongoing communication with the individuals to make sure they understand the information. I have developed patience and the ability to effectively communicate the subject material in simple terms through my experiences. I believe that sharing my passion for the subjects is important to help the individuals stay motivated and interested. The students I helped named me for the Graduate Student Teaching Award from Penn. I continue to tutor privately in Writing, Philosophy, Italian, English, and editing essays. I love assisting individuals with the process of writing, which I believe is a meaningful life skill. During my off time, I really enjoy traveling to Italy, where some of my family members live.
