Hi, my name is Samantha! My six years of tutoring experience have taught me that successful tutoring is about understanding the student's approach to learning as much as it is about knowing the subject area. I have tutored middle school and high school students and in each case I've found that making the subject accessible and exciting is more than half the battle to improving student performance. Good tutoring not only means a better grade, but a student more dedicated to learning. That is my promise and goal in tutoring: to instill students with a new way to approach "problem subjects" so that they not only succeed, but love what they're learning. Details: 4 years of tutoring experience with middle school and high school students. I've spent a lot of that time working with athletes as well as students who have difficulties with their study habits. I received a 2290 on the SAT with a perfect in the math section. I earned 5's in AP US Gov't, AP English Literature, AP BC Calculus (with my AB Subscore also being a 5), and AP History. SAT II Scores were a 740 in US History and a 760 in English Literature. Hobbies
I love playing soccer and I'm currently learning how to play softball. I paint in oil as well as acrylics. My favorite style of painting is Impressionism, which is not shocking given I'm also very interested in French culture. In fact, last year I spent six months studying in Paris! I'm a pretty upbeat tutor, though I do know that some students need a challenge in order to get going. As a very competitive person, I understand this and can cater to do it in a constructive manner.
