Amanda K.
Private tutor in Pittsburgh, PA
Education
I am currently a PhD candidate in computational biology at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University where I have taken graduate-level courses covering many topics, including molecular genomics, structural modeling, cell and systems modeling, and machine learning. As an undergraduate student, I was a double major and earned my B.S. in mathematics and B.S. in biology with a writing minor from Westminster College in 2016 with a 3.99 overall GPA, 4.00 science and math GPA.
Experience
I have 700+ hours of tutoring experience with a focus in R and statistics. I also use R on a daily basis for my own research in evolutionary genomics, and I have mentored students through R research projects in a variety of subjects, including machine learning, finance/economics, and sports analytics. I have tutored all experience levels, from students learning R for the first time to students to advanced students completing in-depth research projects. Whatever task you're working on, no matter how big or how small, I'll be able to help! In addition to my R and statistics tutoring experience, I have also provided science and math tutoring, editing and proofreading services, and music lessons (saxophone, piano, flute, and violin).

Hobbies
Outside of my work and studies, I am an avid writer and animal lover. I currently have 2 dogs and 6 cats, as well as fish, mice, hermit crabs, and my horse. I've been riding horses since I was a child, and I've owned and competed with my own horse for nearly 20 years. One of my lifelong dreams is to write novels, so when I have time among all my hobbies, interests, and obligations, I love to find time to sit down and write.
