Steven L.
Private tutor in Pittsburgh, PA
Education
Current second-year PhD student in economics at the University of Pittsburgh. Graduate with honors from the University of Florida with a BA in Economics.
Experience
I worked as a tutor in my senior year o high school (2013-2014), helping clients with a wide range of topics, including SAT and ACT math prep, Algebra I and II and Geometry. My time as a tutor was incredibly rewarding, and the experience helped me realize that I had a passion for teaching and mentoring. I want to work as a tutor this summer so that I do something I enjoy and am good at while making some money on the side (something that is sorely needed for a poor grad student). In the last 5 years my knowledge of math and economics has grown considerably, having taken and done well in: - Calculus I, II, and III - Graduate level macro and microeconomics - Linear algebra and real analysis - Mathematical statistics and graduate econometrics I have also worked as a teaching assistant and have extensive experience leading study groups at both UF and Pitt.

Hobbies
My main passion is obviously economics; I have spent most of my time this summer studying and working on research. I also have a passion for mentoring and teaching. I am involved in my department's mentor program, where I help new grad students with the challenges of their first year. I also enjoy reading, art, playing video games, swimming and doing yoga.
