Experience
I went to Westminster College, where I studied education as an undergraduate. I'm certified to teach special education at the elementary and middle school level, math and English at the middle school level, and early childhood education. I experienced working with children from pre-K through the eighth grade. I'm currently a middle school teacher helping students learn math, English, and reading. I also lead a study hall to help students build study and organizational skills. The eighth grade students that I work with have learning disabilities with writing, reading, and math. A lot of them also have emotional or behavioral needs and speech and language needs. I work with the school faculty, support staff, and parents to help these students make gains in their learning. I've assisted students with obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD and ADD, autism at varying levels of severity, vision and hearing issues, gifted students, and students with Down syndrome. As a tutor, I like to set small goals and help students achieve them to help build up their confidence. I can help students with elementary level math, special education, study skills and organization, reading, writing, grammar, phonics, test preparation, and others. In my free time, I like to read, do crafts, volunteer, and spend time with family and friends.
