I love to help students learn, and I'm cognizant of the unique needs of each student. I believe that a quality education is the best way for a student to realize their potential in life, and therefore all students should have access to a quality education, as well as a learning environment that is conducive and safe. I focus on my students to provide support and encouragement, and I make sure my lessons are engaging and customized to the learning style of each student. I also appreciate student feedback, as I work collaboratively with a student to set goals and reach them. I attended Texas Christian University for my bachelor's degree in environmental sciences. I then went on to the University of Pittsburgh where I earned my certificate to teach elementary education. I have 26 years of experience in education, including teaching special education at the elementary school level and running a child care business. I specialize in math and science, but I can teach a broad variety of subjects including algebra, English, writing, elementary school math, middle school math, elementary school science, pre-algebra, general science, study skills and organization, ACT prep, GED prep, ISEE prep, HSPT prep, and others. In my spare time, I like to read, knit, write, walk, eat health food, and exercise.
