Experience

As a social service provider and public policy advocate since 1982, I've worked with legislators and staff at all levels and branches of government to develop and implement progressive public policies. I've been writing my column, Community Matters, since 2008. Community Matters uses current events as the platform to teach civics, with emphasis on the U.S. Constitution. It clarifies the history, rationale, policies, and procedures surrounding government operations. I don’t report the news. I explain it. I am a member of the National Alliance for Civic Education and the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. You can read Community Matters at www.tinyurl.com/pat-omalley America doesn't happen by accident. When we all know how and why our government works, then we can make it what we want it to be.
