I was a shy child that would come out of my shell only once I really felt comfortable around someone. I think that I am able to channel this memory and understand that you really just need to work to make a child feel comfortable with you, and then you can really begin to work to have a two way conversation about what they know, and what they don't and what the reasons for that are. I often felt in school that children that weren't picking up on the material as quickly, weren't necessarily less intelligent, they just needed to have a different/more personal approach from someone.
