Education

B.A. with High Honors, English Writing, 2012 Minor in Film Studies, 2012 Certificate in Leadership Studies, 2012 University of Pittsburgh High School Valedictorian, 2008 Delaware Valley High School

Experience

Relevant SAT Scores: Writing -- 800 Reading -- 760 Relevant AP Scores: AP English Literature and Composition -- 5 AP English Language and Composition -- 5 I've taken a lot of Writing and Literature classes at Pitt, in subjects that vary, from 'Writing Youth Literature' to 'Persuasive Writing for Advertising and Fundraising,' from 'Sci Fi: East and West' to 'The Modernist Tradition.' In other words, I'm comfortable writing in a wide range of styles and on a variety of subjects. I excelled in English-related subjects at the University level, and I'm good at applying the methods learned through that coursework to helping younger students as well. While I was at Pitt, I had an internship for credit at a local magazine. The editor left two weeks into my internship, and the publisher gave me most of his responsibilities. For that whole semester, I was responsible for coming up with article concepts, assigning them to writers, writing several pieces myself, and proofreading the whole issue of the magazine. This taught me a lot about how to guide people at varying skill levels through the writing process, from initial idea to publication, and I'm confident that I can apply this experience to tutoring. I currently work for Pitt, and while I like my job because I get to interact with a ton of people every day, it doesn't give me much of an opportunity to write and edit. I quite enjoy proofreading and helping people shape their writing skills.

Hobbies

When I'm not at work or at home, I'm probably at the movies. Because I get a great tuition benefit working for Pitt, I'm going for a second Bachelor's, this time in Film Studies. I love to talk endlessly about film and pop culture, and I hope to turn that into a career someday.
