|Education:||Hi! My name is Melissa. I graduated at the top of my class with a BA in history from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2013. I also completed a minor in Italian, have advanced knowledge of Spanish, and can confidently tutor these subjects as well as history, political science, and I can help with writing or study skills.|
Since graduating, I've been teaching ESL (English as a second language) to adult students.
I have a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the internationally-renowned Boston Language Institute. I am qualified to teach English as a Second or Foreign language both in America and abroad.
|Experience:||I have been tutoring Spanish, Italian, English, and writing skills since September 2012. Now, in addition to my work, I'm also looking to tutor somewhere between 2-4 clients, depending on the time commitment. |
I have experience tutoring all levels of Spanish and Italian, including beginning language learners.
The TEFL certificate I earned gave me top-notch instruction and hands-on practice teaching English as a Second Language.
I took the GRE and scored in the top 90th percentile for the reading and writing portions of the test. I've also tutored students in a graduate level public policy class on reading and writing.
I love being a teacher and tutor because of the satisfaction of seeing a student finally understand something. I try my best to work with each individual's learning style, and I try my best to accommodate scheduling conflicts and other potential issues.
