EducationHi! My name is Melissa. I graduated at the top of my class with a BA in history from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2013. I also completed a minor in Italian, have advanced knowledge of Spanish, and can confidently tutor these subjects as well as history, political science, and I can help with writing or study skills.
Since graduating, I've been teaching ESL (English as a second language) to adult students.
I have a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the internationally-renowned Boston Language Institute. I am qualified to teach English as a Second or Foreign language both in America and abroad.
ExperienceI have been tutoring Spanish, Italian, English, and writing skills since September 2012. Now, in addition to my work, I'm also looking to tutor somewhere between 2-4 clients, depending on the time commitment.
I have experience tutoring all levels of Spanish and Italian, including beginning language learners.
The TEFL certificate I earned gave me top-notch instruction and hands-on practice teaching English as a Second Language.
I took the GRE and scored in the top 90th percentile for the reading and writing portions of the test. I've also tutored students in a graduate level public policy class on reading and writing.
I love being a teacher and tutor because of the satisfaction of seeing a student finally understand something. I try my best to work with each individual's learning style, and I try my best to accommodate scheduling conflicts and other potential issues.

She has been working with my daughter for 2 months and it has made all the difference in the world! Our situation is a little different than most and she has been very flexible and accommodating. She is simply wonderful. I have not reservation about recommending her to others.
